How do I schedule recordings of my lectures?
To create a Lectopia unit, account(s) and schedule recordings, follow the steps on the Bookings page
You will also need a unit in webCT or BlackBoard
What does Lectopia record?
When scheduling the lecture indicate whether you want the Audio Only or the Projected Image and Audio captured. The lecturers left hand screen as they face the students is recorded.
Anything projected to the lecturer's left hand screen is recorded, this includes, lectern PC, laptop or document camera.
QuickTime does not play my lectures
Firstly check your QuickTime version.
Open a web browser and browse to http://www.lectopia.com.au/quicktime/detect/version.html.
The page should show “QuickTime Version: QuickTime 7”
If it is not QuickTime 7 install it from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
To check if QuickTime is able to stream, open
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/
There should be a moving QuickTime logo at the bottom right of the screen. The logo is a blue Q that moves in a circle.
If you do not see the moving logo, change these settings in the QuickTime player.
In Windows open the QuickTime Player.
Go to the Edit menu
Go to Preferences
Go to QuickTime Preferences
Select Advanced tab
From the Transport Setup drop down menu in Streaming, select ‘Custom…’
(The Streaming Transport window appears)
Change Transport Protocol to HTTP, Port ID 80

(The Streaming Transport window appears)
Change Transport Protocol to HTTP, Port ID 80

Can I record my up coming Seminar or event in a “Lectopia enabled” Lecture Theatre ?
No, Lectopia is not suited for “public events” as it’s delivery is through the Learning Management Systems (WebCT, BlackBoard and Medicine LMS).
There is an alternative: Desktop & Audio Recording using “Camtasia”.

What delivery options can I choose from for my recordings?
Lectopia recordings are delivered in both Quicktime and Flash streaming formats by default. Lecturers can also choose to make their recordings available for download.
Download:
The Download delivery option allows students to download lecture files directly to their computer in a range of file formats including MP3, MP4, Quicktime. This then allows 24/7 access to the files without the need to be connected to the Internet. Additionally, this allows storage of files on portable media players such as iPods, MP3 Players, Mobile Phones, PSPs and PDAs.
I checked my lectures and there was a problem. Either there was no sound, no image, or the accompanying PowerPoint file was not attached. What do I do?
Lodge a problem report via the Lectopia recordings page (student view). Each recording has a link titled ‘Report a problem with this recording’. Click the link for the specific recording where there is a problem and submit the details regarding the problem.
How do I know when a lecture has become available?
The specified Unit Contact and those with Staff Tool access will receive an automated notification email containing:
1. a link to update the details for the lecture using the Lectopia Staff Tool
2. a direct link to the student view of the lecture recording
