Computer Acquisitions

A major goal of the University is the continuing improvement of its position as an efficient, effective and responsible institution, striving to meet the needs of students and staff, and committed to quality in all aspects of its operations. Pursuit of this goal requires continuing major investment in a variety of resources, including an increasingly significant amount of Information Communications and Technology (ICT) facilities. Most ICT resources are sourced from within an ICT market which is highly competitive, increasingly diverse and subject to rapid product and supplier change.

To enable the most efficient and effective acquisition and management of its ICT resources the University is maintaining a Standard Operating Environment (SOE), comprising a preferred minimum specification of hardware and software products and configurations. The SOE is supported by an appropriate ICT acquisition policy which includes endorsed (preferred) suppliers and a special agreement for leasing the SOE products being acquired.

The principal purpose of the SOE acquisition policy and lease agreement is to help contain operating costs, improve the ICT resource acquisition process, and maximise return on ICT investments. It is also designed to ensure that highly functional, reliable and up to date ICT assets can continue to be managed more effectively across the University as a whole.

The current preferred suppliers are HP, Dell and Apple. Click on the links below for details of the desktop and laptop bundles available.
