Ordering Mobile Phones

To help people ordering new mobile phones and services, there are electronic forms available for most mobile requests. In order to access these forms, you will need a UniKey account. If you do not have a UniKey account, or have trouble accessing these forms, please contact the ICT Helpdesk.

Mobile Phone Handsets

The first step in ordering new mobile services is indicating whether you require a new mobile handset:

  • For information on mobile handsets and how to order them, please see the following page:

Helpful Mobile Phone Tip

Mobile Serial Numbers

By pressing *#06# on your keypad a 15 digit number will appear on your screen. This number should be recorded and kept in a safe place. If your mobile phone is stolen this number can be registered with the police for possible tracking.

Police will provide your carrier with the serial number and the carrier will then inform the police as to it usage and possible location. It is then the responsibility of the police to follow through with the investigation to try and recover your mobile (stolen handsets only).

Note:

  • Your service provider will not render the mobile phone inoperable when provided with the handset serial number.
  • If your mobile is lost or stolen, you should contact your service provider and cancel your mobile number immediately.

A Mobile feature to save time and money

There are some features we are offering to mobile phone users who are currently on the Optus University account.
If you are part of this fleet here is a way to save yourself time and your department or your faculty money.

During the hours of 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday calls to Optus University of Sydney mobile account holders are free.
Also during this time any calls made from your University mobile phone to any University extension are free.
After hours the call rates are significantly reduced.

To take advantage of this feature all you need to do is the following:

  • Mobile to mobile you dial the full number.
  • Mobile to landline (University extension) you dial # then the number. For example dial #16000 from your mobile handset and a call will be placed to the ICT Helpdesk.

If you require any further information regarding this please do not hesitate to call the Helpdesk.
If you are not on the University account now may be the time to look at migrating and taking advantage of the features and great savings available.
