Microsoft Software

Microsoft desktop, application, system and training software is supplied to members of staff under the CAUDIT and SELECT Agreements signed between Microsoft, our Large Agreement Reseller (Insight) and the University. Under these agreements staff are permitted to install any of the covered products on to any University owned or leased machine, lab machines and machines used by staff at their place of work. Software available under the CAUDIT agreement can be installed on staff owned or leased machines under the "Work at Home" provisions of the Agreement.

No software covered by the Agreements can be installed on a student owned machine or a machine owned by another organisation eg; hospital, under any circumstances.

Computers on a University of Sydney campus can obtain a copy of the installer by following the instructions in the Microsoft pages of this site or from the relevant Computer Services Officer (CSO) for their area.

Vista

Microsoft's most current operating system Vista is compliant with most Usyd software. Although ICT does support Vista, XP is still the preferred Microsoft operating system. This will be revised once MS release Windows 7.
Testing is still being done, however the most up to date compliance chart can be viewed here.

Other Software

Other Software is available for purchase by a variety of methods and the details can be found under the specific software name in the main site license listing. If the software you require does not appear on the list you should contact your departmental / faculty Computer Support Officer (CSO) or the site license administrator in IT Services.
