Using Access Lab Computers
To access the computers in the Access Labs you will need to log in using your UniKey Account. There are Access Labs in a number of central and convenient locations. Most sites have terminals setup for browsing and document authoring and a number offer more specialised tools. Information on the services offered at each lab is available from our services page.
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, German, Hebrew, and many more Languages are available in the Computer Access Labs.
The Language Bar is a component that allows the user to type in a language other than the default language, English. For instructions on Language Bar Setup go to the help webpage or see one of our helpful staff during staffed hours
Who is eligible?
Students and staff of the University are eligible to have 24 hour access to the McGrath Access Centre (Room 201, Carslaw Bldg, Eastern Avenue).
How do I get a card?
To organise this access the applicant will have to take identification proving their enrolment or employment at the university and another form of identification to the security systems desk at level 2, Services Building (G12) Codrington St (crn Abercrombie St) University of Sydney NSW, AUSTRALIA, 2006
Security Systems is open 8:30 am until 4:00 pm Weekdays
When talking to security Systems it is imperative to ask for your card which allows you into the “McGrath Access Centre” to ensure that this card will get you through the right door.
How much does it cost?
There is a $16 set up cost and a $25 fully refundable deposit for the card itself.
When can I use the card?
The card can be used 24 Hours/day, 7 days/Week. You can use it to access the McGrath Access Centre at any time.
What do I do if I lose my card?
Lost cards should be reported immediately to Security Systems on 9351 5326 during office hours or to Security Patrol on 9351 3487 after hours.

The Access Labs are committed to energy conservation. To that end, the monitors are set to power down after 20 minutes of inactivity. This will make the computers appear to be off as the screens will not display anything. To reactivate the monitors, move the mouse, or press any key on the keyboard.
